Territory/Origin:
Northern Scotland; has travelled world-wide.
Auryn has currently taken up residence atop a Catholic cathedral in
San Antonio, Texas. He considers it his eyrie and is very protective of
the priests and Church treasures there.
Appearance:
A large, muscular Griffin; silver eagle in front, massive lion
behind, impressive wingspan and fullness of feather. Dark eyes seem to
hold within them the wisdom of the ages.
History/Bio:
From his origins in far-north Scotland (Skara Brae being a Neolithic
settlement there), Auryn ('the Golden One') flew the length and breadth of
the Roman Empire in its heydey, and has visited his species' ancestral home
in Scythia. He is a sage, a collector and guardian of knowledge, having
studied extensively in any number of animal and human cultures and eras.
He remained active right through the High Middle Ages; but the dawning of
science and the Age of Reason left little room in the world for magical
beasts, and he was forced into a centuries-long slumber. Only now, with
the resurgence of interest in magic and myth, has he emerged to once again
grace the world with his wisdom and presence.
